The hardest part can be the first step - "Stop Dreaming and Start Flying!!"
For a great number of people, flying has been a distant dream or simply an unattainable ambition. Whether you dare to dream or dream to dare, with a little dedication and careful application anybody can achieve the dream of flight. No matter whether you want to gain a fulfilling and rewarding hobby or begin the steps to a successful career. We honestly believe that learning to fly should be a rewarding personal challenge - but! it must also be an enjoyable one as well. We endeavour to make it exhilarating at all times.
The instructional staff of Moorabbin Flying Services are amongst the most experienced and highly qualified within the industry. Our combined experience amounts to well over 20,000 hours in the air. Therefore you are assured of the highest levels of professional training and genuine assistance at all times. We also have the added advantage in that we have our own in house Senior Examiner (Test Officer) on staff. This saves delays in having to book flight tests with approved examiners who may not be available or work locally.
At Moorabbin Flying Services we also realise that not everyone who commences flying lessons wants to go on to be a 747 Captain! Every student has his or her interests and requirements thoroughly examined at the commencement of their flying. This important step allows us to train you according to your desired goals. We also realise that some students may have time limitations and non-aviation career commitments that may hinder their training schedule. We also acknowledge that some students may have financial constraints that delay them from reaching their desired goals. NO PROBLEM.... You are welcome to fly with us once a month or once a day, the choice is yours. Alternatively, you can always come down and continue your theory training with your instructor as time permits.
At Moorabbin Flying Services we are committed to excellence and to make certain your training is an enjoyable experience in a great social atmosphere.
Moorabbin Flying Services is the place where recreational flight and commercial excellence meet with just one thing in mind - You the Student. As an organisation we enjoy the experience of flight and simply want to share it - with people like you....
So why not book in for a Trial Introductory Flight???
We can schedule flying lessons at anytime to suit you. Daylight saving in the summer months (November to March) means that it is possible to fit in lessons after work. Or you can fly at weekends if that is more suitable. In most cases any advance bookings secures your nominated Instructor and aircraft, but if you find you have spare time we can arrange an Instructor and aircraft at relatively short notice.

Moorabbin Flying Services has intensive
full-time courses available at all times. Class sizes are kept to a minimum so
that individual attention is assured at all times. You
will complete two to three one-hour flying sessions
per day, while the ground theory subjects will occupy the remainder of the day.
At various times throughout the year we operate a 21 Day Full-Time G.F.P.T. Course. This 21 (working day) course is primarily designed for school and university students during holiday breaks, but the course is open to anyone who is interested. For the latest information on commencement dates and times, contact the school.
The course is conducted over 4 working weeks. Each student will undertake: BAK classes, 25 hours of dual flying, 5 hours of solo flying, pre-licence and licence testing. Extra flying can be done on weekends if necessary and home study is a must. Medicals and student licences must be completed prior to starting.
Moorabbin Flying Services is especially equipped to handle the requirements of visiting pilots from other parts of Australia and we also welcome overseas students who wish to commence or continue any training to Australian commercial licence standards.
We are able to arrange or assist with the necessary visa's, transport and accommodation - usually by "hosting" in private homes. We expertly cater individual programs and small groups.
Flying training theory requirements can be met in two ways:
Self study at home;
Ground school, attending lectures in our classrooms.
Self study at home may be the cheaper option but our experience shows that this often leaves gaps in your overall aeronautical knowledge. We have found that students only tend to study the material they're interested in and leave out the tougher areas like wing loading problems and flight dynamics etc. The incomplete knowledge then leads to problems and delays for students, particularly those who wish to continue through to the commercial pilot licence.
Classroom study in small groups has the added benefits of overhead and video displays and the benefit of an instructor who is there to ensure you understand all the relevant material. For further information regarding available courses, schedules and fees, please refer to our Ground School section.
We have the facility and the know how to map out a tailored flying, theory and study plan to suit your individual needs.
